Sabbatical

Pastor Michael is on sabbatical this fall: September 1 - November 10

What is Sabbatical?

The Church of the Nazarene encourages pastoral sabbaticals as periods of extended leave granted to pastors to promote their spiritual renewal, personal growth, and professional development. These breaks typically range from a few weeks to several months, during which pastors are encouraged to rest, reflect, study, and reconnect with their calling. Sabbaticals are seen as vital for preventing burnout, enhancing pastoral effectiveness, and fostering long-term ministry health within congregations.

Pastor Michael will be on sabbatical from September 1 - November 10, 2024. During this time he will be traveling, engaging in spiritual disciplines, resting and spending time with his family. You may see Pastor Michael's wife Shelly some Sundays during sabbatical but she will be traveling with him for several Sundays during sabbatical. Pastor Michael will not be answering emails, phone calls, texts or social media posts durning sabbatical as part of the discipline of sabbath taking. If you happen to see Pastor Michael in a restaurant or at the grocery store please feel free to behave as you normally would, he is not off limits and would be happy to visit with you. Sabbatical is a break from the regular rhythms of ministry with its demands, stresses and workload but he will be happy to converse with you as a friend.

Sundays During Sabbatical

While Pastor Michael is away our Wayfinders Worship Gatherings will remain similar to their regular format and a variety of guest speakers will be bringing messages throughout September, October and November. You can expect that there will be music and praise, prayer and preaching, nursery and Waykids activities throughout this time.
