Prayer & Fasting

Let us know how we can be praying for you this week

Prayer changes everything

Wayfinders and Friends,

Sunday, October 4th, as you may know, we called for a 30 day fast. We would like to invite you to join us in prayer and fasting between October 5th and November 3rd. Our hope it that we may disengage with some habits and idols in our lives to embrace a deeper understanding of God's will for creation. The social and economic impact of COVID-19, rising tensions around racial inequity, political discord, and a number of other stressors have contributed to a polarization in our society. We, the people of God are at our best when we choose to surrender to the will of our creator rather than succumbing to the will(s) of society; however, we are easily distracted by the myriad of voices vying for our attention. So, we fast and we pray. Søren Kierkegard said, "purity of heart is to will one thing." and the Apostle Paul said, "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may discern the good, perfect and pleasing will of God." We desire to be transformed by the will of God alone and this 30 day fast is about submitting to the Spirit of God for this purpose.

If you would like to join us in a social media fast we would invite you replace your normal "screen-time" with prayer and the study of scripture. We realize that there are times when social media is necessary for some of us to communicate with loved ones and receive and send vital information and in those times we encourage you to use discernment as these forms of media want to shape your opinion of the world and lure you down rabbit trails that may have adverse effects on your attitude toward others. We further realize that not everyone will find social media to be a worthy fast and so we suggest you pray through until the Spirit gives you direction as there are any number of things that may consume our time and energy and have adverse effects on our ability to love first, do life together and live the story of reconciliation and redemption.
